Music: "Wizards In Winter"

This walkthrough is made for all detective levels (Junior and Senior). This walkthrough is not based on the only way to play the game. Again, this is a step-by-step guide on how to beat the game from start to finish by the way that I’ve played. The walkthrough also contains the solutions to all puzzles. *Note* Some events in the game can be seen later on, or before hand depending on the way you play. Click on the link below for a printer friendly version of the walkthrough.

NANCY’S BEDROOM:

Once again, you are welcomed in Nancy’s bedroom. After Nancy has finished talking, pick up the “Case File” on the desk. The case file has all of the information about her new case. It says that you, as Nancy Drew, will be heading to the Icicle Creek Lodge in Alberta, Canada to find out why so many accidents have been occurring. Chantal Moique, the owner of the lodge, has called Nancy for help and has also mentioned something about “a wolf.” After reading the Case File, you can also check out the “Dossier.” That’s a book that displays memorabilia about all of the previous cases Nancy has been in. The book “How To Be A Detective” is a tutorial that will show you how to see what’s in your inventory, using the alarm clock, etc… If you are ready to start your adventure, click on the plane ticket and click “yes.” If you are not ready, then click “no.” If you have chosen “yes”, then select either “Junior” or “Senior” detective to begin your mission. Stay warm!

BEGINNING SCENE:

Ollie Randall, Chantal’s handyman, has agreed to pick you up at the airport. During your drive to the lodge, Ollie and Nancy chat for a while until a howling noise is heard. Soon after, an explosion is heard. At the lodge the next morning, Ollie and Nancy call Chantal and explain what has happened. The bunk house has exploded. Apparently, Chantal’s maid and cook were staying in the bunk house, but quit days before the explosion. Nancy has agreed to be the new maid and cook so she could snoop in the guests’ rooms and ask questions without any suspicions. Chantal also told Nancy that she left Tino Balducci’s number on the phone so he can further assist you during the mystery. After the lengthy conversation with Chantal and Ollie, you are now in your room.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (NANCY’S ROOM “KWEL KWEL”):

This is the room that Nancy will be residing in during your stay at Icicle Creek. Check your inventory. Your room key and the Case File are already in your inventory. First, go to the end table stationed near the right side of the bed. Click on the key that’s on top of the small paper. That is the skeleton room key. This key can open all of the guests’ doors. Directly underneath the key, is a room assignment list. Basically, it’s a list of all the guests that are stationed in each of the rooms. Now, click on the list of papers to the right of the alarm clock.

EMPLOYEE INSTRUCTIONS:

Read each page carefully. It looks like Nancy will be doing a lot more than cooking and cleaning… *Note: Cleaning and cooking can be skipped at times. Do not worry; you will not get fired if you forget to do these things!*

First Page – Maid Duties

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsMaidDuties.jpg

1.     Each day, you must pick up the laundry bag at the front desk. The laundry bag is available only after 5:45 a.m. Later you will find out that the laundry bag is located in the closet near the computer.

2.     Clean only the rooms with the “Housekeeping” sign on the door handle. The “Housekeeping” sign is a picture of a feather duster.

3.     When a room is to be cleaned, make the bed and put the dirty towels and washcloths inside the laundry bag.

4.     All rooms must be cleaned no later than noon.

5.     Drop off the laundry bag down the laundry shoot. The laundry shoot is located near the restroom on the second floor.

Second Page – Skating Pond Maintenance

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsSkatingPondMaintenance.jpg

Third Page – Skating Pond Maintenance Cont.

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsSkatingPondMaintenanceCont.jpg

Fourth Page – Avalanches

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsAvalances.jpg

1.     Basic Rule: Always wear snowshoes when walking on unstable snow. Unstable snow triggers loud noises.

Loud noises + snow in Canadian Rockies = avalanche!

2. Report avalanches or possible avalanches to the Avalanche Patrol. The number listed on this paper is also available in Nancy’s notebook (listed under “phone numbers”).

Fifth Page – Criminal Activity / Sauna

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsCriminalActivityAndSauna.jpg

1.     Report all suspicious activity to the police department. The number listed on the paper is also available on the phone at the front desk.

2.     Check the sauna at times to make sure none of the guests are frying themselves to death. This isn’t a necessary component in the game.

Sixth Page – Cooking

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/EmployeeInstructionsCooking.jpg

1.     Remember the times that meals are to be served:

A.    Breakfast (7:00 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.)

B.     Lunch (12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

C.     Dinner (6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

After you have read the instructions, notice the clock on the end table. If you ever need to change the time in the game, use the alarm clock by changing the time with your curser and then clicking on the button at the top of the clock. Back away from the table and go to the closet. Open the closet with Nancy’s room key. Inside the closet, there are only a couple of suit cases. Now that’s finished, it’s time to start your chores.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (SECOND FLOOR):

Exit Nancy’s room and go left. Go forward until you see the staircase. Head down the stairs.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (FRONT DESK):

At the bottom of the stairs, curve left and go forward once. Take a look at the map on the wall. Back away and go behind the desk area.

EXAMINING THE FRONT DESK:

Click on the crumpled-up note on the floor. It’s a letter from Elsa, one of the old staff members. Back away and go forward to the computer area. Click on the computer. Click on the first icon (a checklist). This icon displays the entire employee instruction list that we read earlier in Nancy’s room. Go back to the computer desktop and click on the second icon (a book and pen). This function displays the guest register. Click on “Previous Year.” The register from last year has been deleted. Now, click on the third icon (snowflake). This is a hypothermia warning. Note the colors and what they mean. The last two icons are about birds and ice-fishing. You may click on the icons if you desire. Also, note the phone next to the computer. You will need to use this phone later, so remember where it is located.

Now that that’s finished, let’s get started on those maid duties! Back away from the computer area and click on the closet that is located to the right of the desk. Make sure you read the three notes inside the locker. Seems like Elsa is having boyfriend issues…

MAID DUTIES – CLEANING ROOMS:

1.     Click on the laundry bag located inside the closet. *REMEMBER* The laundry bag can only be obtained after 5:45 a.m. Also, the cleaning is to be done no later than noon. If you fail to do this, you will only get scolded at by Chantal.

2.     After you have taken the laundry bag, go back upstairs to the second floor. Note the rooms that display the “Housekeeping” sign.

3.     First, go into room that needs cleaning.

4.     To fix the bed, go forward to the bed either on the left or right side. Each bed is made at a different side. For example, you can only clean room “Kalakala’s” bed from the left side. When you are at the correct side, simply click on the bed.

5.     To collect laundry, turn around from the bed and go forward to the towel rack. Click on the laundry. The laundry is automatically placed in the laundry bag.

6.     After cleaning each room (fixing the bed and collecting the laundry), then go to the end of the hallway near the stairs and the bathroom. Open the laundry shoot, take out the laundry bag, and place it into the laundry shoot.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (SECOND FLOOR):

After you have finished the laundry, it would be a good idea to snoop in the guests’ rooms. There is a restroom on this floor along with a fire escape, which you cannot use. *Hint: it’s a good idea to frequently use the bathroom!* Since the room “Chinook” is unoccupied, there are only four other rooms to be examined (with the exception of your room, “Kwel Kwel”). At the end of the hallway near the fire escape, notice the boar’s head stationed on the mantle. Also, notice the raccoon picture on the wall between Eena and Chinook’s door.

SNOOPING IN THE GUESTS’ ROOMS:

          Kalakala – Yanni’s Room

1.     Read the “Winter Sports” magazine that is located on the small table, stationed to the right of the door.

2.     Note the moose head above the table.

Eena – Lou’s Room

1.     Examine the magazine and school book on the table with the two chairs.

2.     Note the snowshoes on one of the chairs.

3.     Look at his art paraphernalia on the floor.

Ollalie – Guadalupe’s Room

1.     Read the magazine about Yanni that is located on the table with the two chairs.

Pish Pish – Bill’s Room

1.     Look at the geology, engineering, and machinery books on the table with the two chairs.

Now that we’ve cross examined the guests’ rooms at the lodge, why don’t we actually talk to them now? Go downstairs until you can go either left or right. Go right.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (LOUNGE):

Go forward twice until you reach the desk, and then turn left once. Guadalupe is bird-watching at the window near the bookcase. Talk to Guadalupe. *Note: If Guadalupe isn’t at the window during this time, then go to your room and set your alarm clock to 11:00 a.m. Then, go back downstairs and talk to her.* When you converse with Guadalupe, ask her everything possible. She mentions that she is only staying at the lodge to watch birds. Also ask her about the other guests at the lodge. She says that the handyman is trying to get rid of the wolf. After talking with Lupe, turn right, go forward three times, corner right once, and then turn right a final time until you are faced towards Bill and Lou. Talk to both of them. They both say that this is their first time at the lodge. Bill also wants you to shovel the ice pond because he and Lou want to go speed skating. After talking to Lou and Bill, go back to the stair area. Instead of going up the stairs, click on the door next to the bottom of the stairs. That’s the door that leads to the basement. Go down the steps.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (BASEMENT):

Go down the stairs until you can either go left or straight. Go straight. Keep following the path until you see Yanni. Talk to Yanni. He’s a cross-country skier from Fredonia. He seems pretty paranoid because he thinks that his competitors have come all the way out to Canada to spy on his “technique.” He also doesn’t take a liking to that wolf. After talking to Yanni, turn left and go forward to the sauna. Now turn left and talk to Ollie. Ask him everything possible. Learn about his daughter, his plans for the wolf, and Chantal’s promise to give him a raise. Ollie refuses to answer any questions about the accidents because Chantal made him promise to not discuss it with anybody. While you are downstairs, make note of the stairs leading to the bilco door. That’s finished. Now, let’s go to the front desk to call Chantal and ask her about these accidents.

ICICLE CREEK LODGE (FRONT DESK):

First, we have to call Chantal so she can tell us about the accidents. While we’re there, let’s give some other people a call too.

MAKING PHONE CALLS:

The following numbers are found on the “Important Numbers” list on the phone at the front desk.

Chantal Moique – (403) 555 -2274

Call Chantal and ask her about the accidents. She said that five people got food poisoning, tires were slashed, someone fell down the backstairs, a window was broken, phone-lines were cut, and a couple were overcome with fumes from the sauna. Also ask Chantal about the deleted names on the computer. She suggests that Freddie might have done that. Make sure to ask about her promising Ollie a raise. Chantal also wants to you ask Yanni for permission to put his picture on a future website for publicity. When you are finished, call Tino.

Tino Balducci – (312) 555 - 5375

Call Tino to “check in.” Ask Tino how he knows Chantal. For Junior detective level, Tino is also available to give out hints if you are ever stuck in the game. However, this option is not available for Senior level.

You could also call Sheriff Mahihkan and Pinevale Hospital, but you won’t be able to talk to anyone. Now, let’s call the victims and Ned. These numbers are available in Nancy’s note book, listed under “Phone Numbers.”

Ned – (523) 555 - 4357

Ned is Nancy’s boyfriend. You can call him for added consultation and support throughout the case.

Elsa – 555 - 2383

Elsa was Chantal’s maid before she decided to quit. Ask Elsa about her reason to quit. She claims that the wolf “slashed her tires.” Also ask her if “L” was the real reason for her quitting.

Carl Jenkins – (312) 555 - 7547

Carl Jenkins is the man who slipped on the backstairs because they were covered in ice. He can’t work or go out, so he is “forced” to play a video game.

The Faringdales – (551) 555 - 7425

Speak with Mrs. Faringdale. She and her family all got food poisoning during their stay and had to be admitted to the hospital.

Derek Southwaite – (418) 555 - 7387

Brenda and Derek Southwaite were the couple staying at the lodge for their honeymoon. They were almost overcome by gas fumes in the sauna until Yanni told them to get out.

If you played exactly like I did, then it should be time to start lunch. Exit the desk area and go forward to the desk in the lounge. Turn right and go forward through the double doors.

KITCHEN:

This is the kitchen. You can only go in here during meal times. Cooking is a tad bit tricky, but as long as you read the manual, you’ll be fine. The following are examples of what to expect while cooking.

COOKING BREAKFAST:

First read the manual on the counter. Know which foods can be cooked on the grill and which foods can only be cooked in the frying pan. If you leave an item on the grill or in the pan for too long, a fire will start. Here are the rules:

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/Breakfast.jpg

1.     Guests may order French toast, an omelette, and/or Canadian bacon.

2.     French toast and Canadian bacon should be cooked on the grill. Omelettes are to be cooked in the frying pan.

WhiteWolfOfIcicleCreek/CookingBreakfast1.jpg

Look at the order. The “Guest Name” at the top of the order is the person who is having the meal. If the person wishes to have French toast, a number will be placed on the line, indicating how many slices of French toast he or she wants. If the person wants Canadian bacon, a number will be placed on the line, indicating how many slices of Canadian bacon he or she wants. If the person would like an omelette, a number will be place on the line, indicating how many omelettes he or she wants. The omelette ingredients are also listed. The number next to each ingredient indicates how many of that particular ingredient should be placed in the omelette. If the space is blank, then that indicates that the ingredient should not be used.

COOKING DINNER:

First, read the manual on the counter. Always be cautious of which foods you can place on the grill and which foods cannot be placed on the grill. Don’t leave foods on the grill or pan for too long or else it will catch on fire. Here are the rules for cooking dinner:
